English for Medical Professionals is a continuing education program for individuals/groups who wish to improve their communication abilities in the medical industry. EMP currently works or has worked with the staff at Maharaj, Ram II, Nakornping and Lanna Hospitals as well as the Chaingmai University’s physical therapy department. Though EMP is based in Chiangmai, intensive classes are offered outside city limits.
Classes are created by having nine or more students signup for a listed class. Classes are available by emailing EMP and requesting a time and place for the course.
Classes are usually formed by a group of friends within a hospital or a group of a certain ward. This enables friends and co-workers to learn English together making it more enjoyable and practical. Access to a variety of material and resources are available as well.
In many instances, the education department will pay for half or the entire course.
Competition for better English speaking doctors and nurses increases yearly due to the continuing growth of Western foreigners. And because most of these foreigners are cash paying customers, the services to provide foreigners has become more competitive.
